Anime Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Becomes Highest-Grossing Japanese Film in History with $555 Million

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has surpassed $555 million worldwide, making it not only the highest-grossing anime film of all time but also the highest-grossing Japanese film in global box office history. While Mugen Train from the same franchise earned 41 billion yen in Japan, Infinity Castle is now approaching 40 billion yen domestically.
Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable, the film adapts the climactic arc of Koyoharu Gotouge’s best-selling manga. Voice cast includes Natsuki Hanae as Tanjiro, Akari Kito as Nezuko, Hiro Shimono as Zenitsu, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Inosuke.
This weekend, the film grossed $36 million across 62 international markets. In France, it opened with $8.6 million, while in Germany it debuted with $8.2 million. Its top markets to date include Mexico ($15.1M), Hong Kong ($12.4M), India ($8.1M), the UK ($7.5M), and Indonesia ($7.3M). In South Korea and Taiwan, grosses have reached $37M and $25M respectively, though Sony is not the distributor in those territories.
Meanwhile, New Line and Warner Bros.’ The Conjuring: Last Rites has crossed $400 million, becoming the top-grossing entry in its franchise. In its third weekend, the film earned $28 million across 75 markets. Its strongest international territories so far include Mexico ($26.4M), the UK ($20M), Brazil ($15.3M), France ($14.6M), and Germany ($12.7M). The film will open in Japan on October 17.
